Mystic Grove Teas

The Teaguy is proud to announce the launching of his own brand of organic Taiwan teas, Mystic Grove Teas. These are select, made-to-order teas and are government-certified organic. We have a very close working relationship with our growers, and Master Tsai personally supervises the harvest and production to ensure quality. We’ve had a very enthusiastic and positive response from our tea friends in Taiwan, and hope you’ll enjoy them as much as we do.

All the images below are untouched and ‘unstaged’ - what you see here is what you get. I’ll be doing more in-depth reviews of each tea, and will update with better photos as I get them sorted out. For comparison purposes, the dry leaf photos are  all 5g samples, and the cupped tea photos are all a mixture of 1st and 2nd steeps to present a balanced represenation of the color. None of these teas should be pre-rinsed before brewing.

Traditional Roast Oolong

This tea is produced in the original ‘Dong Ting’-style, which is oxidized longer and roasted more than high mountain teas. While less flowery than its famous cousins, it has a richer, more mature flavor with a dry, lingering aftertaste.

Charcoal Roast Oolong

Picked from the same fields as the Traditional Roast above, this tea is slow-roasted over charcoal to give it a mellow, smooth mouthfeel with faint smoky notes.

‘Old Tree’ Black Tea

Grown on the warm, sunny slopes surrounding Nantou County’s beautiful Sun Moon Lake, our organic Black Tea comes from fields first planted during the Japanese occupation in the early part of the 20th century. These venerable plants produce a fruity, robust brew that

disdains milk and sugar. A great morning brew!
